High School Girls Basketball Season Kicks Off in Utah

As the city of Utah gears up for another season of high school basketball, girls from across the region are ready to hit the court and show their skills. This week marks the official start of the 2024-2025 high school girls basketball season, with teams eager to compete and improve from last year.

For those interested in following the action, the local teams in the 6A classification have a line-up of exciting matches ahead. There have been some changes in coaching staff as well, with four new head coaches stepping in. Notable names include Nicole Waddoups from Davis and Jerrell Stewart from Layton, both looking to lead their teams to new heights this season.

Last year, schools like Kearns and showed impressive performances, with Kearns finishing with a stellar record of 25-2 and losing in the 6A championship. They’ll be looking to build on their success while some teams like , who ended with a 2-19 record, are eager to turn things around this time around.

Returning players are excited to get started. For instance, coach Braden Hamlin expressed enthusiasm about his core group putting in hard work during the offseason to maintain their competitiveness.
