Vermont High School Fall Sports Season Kicks Off with Exciting Games
This week marks the start of the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season, bringing plenty of excitement for athletes and fans alike. Several teams took to the fields and courts with notable performances in key games across various sports including soccer, volleyball, and field hockey.
Soccer Highlights
In a closely contested boys’ soccer match, South Burlington and Burlington ended in a tie at 1-1. For Burlington, Ella Knudsen scored the lone goal, with Noelle Sweetser making 6 saves. South Burlington’s Lucia Ward also netted a goal, and Gillian Bachand showed skill with 7 saves.
In another exciting game, Milton triumphed over Rice with a score of 4-1. Cianna Tomasi was a standout, scoring all three of her goals in the second half of the match. Goalie Lila Martin made 8 crucial saves for Milton.
Peoples dominated Lyndon with an impressive score of 11-0. Harrison Frazee was in top form, scoring five goals, a fantastic performance that contributed significantly to the team’s best season in 19 years.
Field Hockey Action
In the field hockey scene, Missisquoi faced Stowe, winning decisively with a score of 4-1. McKenna Thompson and Addison Gates each scored twice, combining their efforts for an outstanding game.
Volleyball Results
Volleyball offered its share of thrilling action too. Burlington swept St. Johnsbury 3-0, while Colchester was also victorious against Missisquoi with a similar score. Harwood managed to take down Hartford without dropping a set.
