In the lovely city of Clinton, South Carolina, it’s a delightful time for the Thornwell Charter School (TCS) community as they celebrate some remarkable milestones in academic excellence. The school, which operates under the Charter Institute at Erskine’s statewide district, has been recognized for its outstanding performance on the 2023-2024 South Carolina state testing results. Sounds exciting, right?
The accolades are rolling in for both the TCS Elementary and TCS Middle School. These institutions have not only excelled academically, but they have also made significant growth, establishing themselves as leaders not just in Laurens County, but across the entire state of South Carolina. It’s always heartwarming to see local schools making a big impact!
According to the recent South Carolina School Report Card, both schools proudly received a rating of “Good”—the highest number of overall points earned out of all schools in Laurens County! What does this mean? It’s a clear indicator that the hard work and dedication of both students and staff have paid off in a big way.
At the recent Charter Institute at Erskine Academic Showcase, TCS Middle School celebrated yet another achievement by receiving the Gold School of Distinction Award. This award is not handed out lightly; it recognizes schools that notably outperform their local district and show above-average academic growth. Talk about a cause for celebration!
But the accolades don’t stop there! Both TCS Elementary and TCS Middle School were also honored with the Palmetto Silver Award from the South Carolina Department of Education. This prestigious recognition is granted to schools that achieve a minimum rating of “good” on at least three out of four performance indicators. It seems like TCS is truly going above and beyond!
Additionally, TCS Middle School has earned the Culture of Excellence Award from the Charter Institute at Erskine. This award highlights the school’s excellent climate rating on the South Carolina School Report Card, emphasizing the positive, supportive environment the school fosters for students, staff, and the broader community. A warm and inviting atmosphere truly makes a difference in learning!
While TCS does not yet have a high school report card, the school will soon be reaching another milestone. Starting next year, they will begin generating high school report cards as their first cohort of high school seniors approaches graduation. What an exciting time for the students and the whole community!
Melissa Moore, the Head of School at Thornwell Charter School, expressed her immense pride in the accomplished team. “We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff,” she stated. “These awards are a testament to the commitment we have to academic excellence and the support of our school community. We look forward to continuing to build on this success as we expand our programs and prepare our first class of high school graduates for the future.”
In conclusion, Thornwell Charter School is not only setting a high bar for academic excellence but is also proving that a close-knit community of dedicated individuals can truly make a significant impact. With enthusiasm in the air and the promise of growth ahead, there is no doubt that TCS is on a bright path to continued success.
