Hey there, friends! If you’re in or around Laurens, we have some thrilling news that will certainly brighten your day! Mark your calendars for October 4-5 because Laurens County First Steps is set to host a fantastic community event known as Squealin’ on the Square. It’s a celebration where fun and excitement are guaranteed!
Now, here’s the scoop! Laurens County First Steps has decided to sprinkle a bit of adventure into the event. Picture this: a bunch of little playful pigs will be roaming around the Laurens Square. Yes, you read that right! These adorable creatures are not just any pigs; they come with special collars that will guide you if one goes astray. Each collar is designed to help you find your way back to the LCFS booth if you happen to spot one of these little adventurers.
So, what happens if you find one of these little piggies? Bring them back to the LCFS booth during Squealin’, and you’ll be rewarded! That’s right; you’ll receive a delightful children’s book courtesy of the wonderful folks at the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. What a splendid way to encourage literacy while having fun!
Joining in is super easy! Just keep your eyes peeled for any little piggies wandering about, and when you find one, scoop them up and head back to the LCFS booth. This playful activity is great for kids, adults, and everyone in between. It encourages everyone to participate in the spirit of community, fun, and a shared love for learning.
But wait, there’s more! While you’re out there having a blast with the pigs, Squealin’ on the Square offers a myriad of activities for everyone. From delicious food stalls to festive music and games, you can wander about, meet other friendly faces, and enjoy all that the event has to offer. This is a great opportunity to bond with family, friends, and neighbors, while also supporting a fantastic cause.
Let’s talk about location, folks! You can find the LCFS office right at 1029 West Main Street. If for any reason you can’t make it to the event on October 4-5, don’t worry! You’re still welcome to bring any little pig you find back to the office from Monday to Thursday, between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. They’ll be delighted to see you and your little piggy!
As we gear up for this joyous celebration, it’s wise to keep an eye on the weather. This morning started off with some thunderstorms, but the forecast indicates we might see clouds roll in with rain likely later in the afternoon. We’re expecting highs around 73°F with East-Southeast winds. There’s a 100% chance of rain, so keep those umbrellas handy! As the afternoon fades, be prepared for potential heavy rainfall and even gusty winds. Overnight temperatures will be near 70°F with a chance of thunderstorms, so stay cozy and safe!
With Squealin’ on the Square just around the corner, excitement is in the air. Don’t miss out on the chance to have blast with your community while also encouraging a love for reading among our little ones. Grab your family, invite your friends, and get ready to squeal with joy, but don’t forget to keep an eye out for those wandering pigs!
We can’t wait to see you there and share in the fun together!
