Get Ready for Squealin’ on the Square in Laurens!
Laurens is buzzing with excitement as the community gears up for the much-anticipated Squealin’ on the Square BBQ festival this weekend, November 8 and 9! After Hurricane Helene swept through and caused a stir, many events had to be postponed, but now is the time for some delicious fun!
A Culinary Extravaganza
Taking place in the heart of downtown Laurens, the festival will showcase a lineup of 12 BBQ vendors, with seven of them being beloved locals. Attendees can savor the mouthwatering offerings of beef, pork, lamb, sausage, and chicken, all cooked to perfection! Think your taste buds are ready for the challenge? Make sure to save enough appetite for the People’s Choice Award sampling on Saturday afternoon. For just $10, you can taste your way through the offerings, vote for your favorite, and help crown the BBQ champion!
Vendors, Fun, and Family Activities
But the fun doesn’t stop at just great food! In addition to the BBQ delights, there will be over 65 artisan and craft vendors featuring unique handmade products, perfect for those looking to get a jumpstart on holiday shopping or simply find something special. Kids and families will surely be entertained too, as local businesses, churches, and nonprofits are joining in the festivities by providing family-friendly activities at their booths. Don’t be surprised if you see the mischievous Boo Boo the Circus Clown wandering around bringing smiles on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.!
Musical Entertainment to Delight
As you stroll through the festival, enjoy the sounds of local music! Friday evening will feature talented groups such as Exit 83 Band, Hunter Holmes, Stone Groove, and David E and the Band Levelz. On Saturday, the stage will come alive with performances from Studio 55, Vance Kennedy, Barksdale Station, Dogday Bluejay, and Ashleigh Graham, as well as the energetic sounds of Appalachian Highway. It’s a music lover’s dream come true!
Together We Celebrate
Craig Scharton, the Executive Director of Main Street Laurens, reflects on the importance of this event, saying, “I think the community feels like they need an event to come together since Helene. There’s an appreciation for what downtown brings as a place to share and celebrate.” This year, Squealin’ on the Square isn’t just about BBQ—it’s a heartfelt reminder of the strength and unity of the Laurens community.
