Samsung Donates $10,000 to Newberry County Teachers for Amazon Wish Lists

Boost for Back-to-School Season

Columbia, S.C. – In an inspiring show of support for educators, Samsung has generously donated $10,000 to the teachers of Newberry County. The significant contribution was revealed during a back-to-school meeting held on Friday morning, where staff and administrators gathered to kickoff the new academic year.

Surprise Presentation

Amidst the discussions led by Superintendent Alvin Pressley regarding this year’s educational goals, a surprise guest, Samsung CEO Jeremy Lee, entered the room holding a colossal $10,000 check. The announcement electrified the room, filling it with beams of joy and renewed enthusiasm. The funds are specifically allocated to fulfill teachers’ classroom Amazon wish lists.

Community Partnership

Discussing the motivation behind this charitable act, CEO Jeremy Lee stated, “Good teachers make good students, that’s my experience. Supporting teachers is the best way to improve our students’ abilities.” It was evident that Samsung’s commitment to the local community isn’t just a corporate gesture but a long-standing partnership, as the company has an appliance plant in Newberry County where many locals are employed.

Expressing Gratitude

Superintendent Pressley praised the ongoing collaboration, saying, “It really highlights the partnership of Samsung with the school district of Newberry County and their commitment to making certain that our schools, students, and teachers have what they need for a successful school year.”

Teacher Perspective

Brian Redd, a 29-year teaching veteran recently awarded Teacher of the Year, also shared his thoughts, stating that the donation would greatly benefit both the students and teachers. He emphasized, “We don’t do this for the income; we do it for the outcome. The appreciation shown through such acts is meaningful and helps make our community even stronger.”

Redd continued, “This is a special place, a small-town environment, a great place to raise a family and bring kids to school. It’s about the kids and the teachers and what we are striving to achieve for our community.”

A Continuing Effort

Each year, Samsung dedicates a portion of its budget to community outreach, benefiting schools, veterans, and various local initiatives. This time, they aimed to ensure the Newberry County school district is well-prepared for the upcoming academic challenges.
