As the sun sets and the temperatures drop to a cozy 55 degrees in Clinton, excitement is building for the city’s much-anticipated annual festivities. This weekend’s Rhythm on the Rails promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with music, food, and endless fun as the community comes together for a vibrant celebration.
Clinton’s Community Development Coordinator, Dianne Wyatt, is particularly thrilled about the return of the famed Swingin Medallions. “I feel like we’re going to have a big crowd Friday night,” Wyatt remarked enthusiastically. “We’re going to have a great time and it’s great to have them.” The festival kicks off on Friday evening with a local talent show, Clinton’s Got Talent, starting at 6 p.m. at the historic Depot. Then, the Swingin Medallions will take the stage at 8 p.m. for what promises to be a spectacular musical experience.
The fun doesn’t stop there! On Saturday, the day starts with an adventurous Wildlife Geeks Adventure Presentation at 11 a.m., perfect for families looking to learn while having a blast. The Main Stage will be alive with music throughout the day, featuring performances by the Silver Travis Band at 2 p.m., followed by the Rock and Roll Reunion at 5 p.m., and wrapping up with the Cliff Wheeler Band at 9 p.m.
For Wyatt, this event is all about more than just enjoyment; it’s an opportunity for the community to connect. “I think when the community can get together for a common goal, to enjoy life a little bit, it creates a wonderful atmosphere. We’ve got a full day of music, fun, food, and a lot of things everyone is going to enjoy,” she said. The cooler weather adds an inviting appeal, encouraging families to step outside, enjoy the fresh air, and reconnect with neighbors.
The festival layout will include various food vendors offering delicious eats that everyone can enjoy. There will also be games with prizes for all ages. “The kids can enjoy the rides, and we’re going to have some great food, a variety of prizes, and everybody can come get together,” Wyatt continued. Thanks to a partnership with CNNGA, all the rides will be complimentary for children, ensuring a delightful experience for families. Local sponsors—including USC Union’s Laurens location, the City of Clinton, and Laurens County—are helping to make this event possible.
To accommodate the festivities, attendees should be aware of some temporary road closures. Parking lots on East Main St, West Main St, and North Broad St will be closed during the festival hours, so plan accordingly to ensure a smooth arrival.
With a treasure trove of entertainment, mouthwatering food, and a chance to mingle with friends and family, the Rhythm on the Rails festival is set to bring the community together for an unforgettable weekend. So mark your calendars, gather your loved ones, and get ready to celebrate in the heart of Clinton—because this festival is one you surely won’t want to miss!
