POOTTSTOWN – The Hill School field hockey team has made history by finishing their season with a perfect record. Ranked No. 1 in the nation by MAX Field Hockey, the team did not lose a single match this year. They secured their championship by defeating the No. 3 Academy of Notre Dame, 5-1, in the Pa. Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) championship game held at Ursinus College on Tuesday night.
This victory was particularly sweet for Hill School as they faced Notre Dame in a rematch of last year’s PAISAA title game, where the Hill School suffered a narrow defeat. Under first-year head coach Katherine Bowie, the team completed an impressive season with a record of 22 wins and no losses.
Hill School struggled in the first half of the championship game, but quickly turned things around after halftime. They scored four unanswered goals to dominate the match. Senior Ella Kaplan from Shaker Heights, Ohio, played a key role, scoring two goals in the second half. Kaplan initially gave the Blues the lead, with an assist from sophomore Haley Elliott of Blue Bell, in the third quarter. Following Kaplan’s goal, senior Aubrey Turner from Downingtown excelled, scoring on a corner and assisting junior Opal Sparling from Chester Springs to increase the score to 4-1.
Kaplan finished the scoring for Hill School in the fourth quarter, solidifying their victory. This win marks the team’s second state prep title, the first being achieved in 2022. The championship solidifies Hill School’s standing as a powerhouse in field hockey, showcasing their talent and determination throughout the season.
As the fans celebrated the win, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride. The students, coaches, and families were all in high spirits, marking a memorable end to an outstanding season.
