Potential Tropical Cyclone Four Heads Towards South Carolina, Greenville on Alert for Potential Impact

Potential Tropical Cyclone Four Could Impact South Carolina: What You Need to Know

Weather Warning for Greenville and Surrounding Areas

**Greenville** residents, stay alert! There’s a developing tropical storm currently making its way over Cuba. Potential Tropical Cyclone Four is expected to bring heavy rain, rough surf, and other weather disturbances to parts of South Carolina and North Carolina by the middle of next week.

This storm is rapidly evolving. As of 11 a.m. Friday, the National Hurricane Center released its first advisory for this depression, situated southeast of Key West, Florida. The storm is projected to head into the Gulf of Mexico, swing back over Florida, and eventually reach the Atlantic. The possible paths indicate significant parts of South Carolina could be affected. **If this system turns into a named tropical storm as anticipated, it will be called Debby, the fourth named storm of the hurricane season**.

Tropical Storm Warnings in Effect

Currently, a **Tropical Storm Warning** is operational for Florida’s southwest coast, from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach. Additionally, a **Tropical Storm Watch** is in place for several areas including the southern coast of Florida from East Cape Sable to the Card Sound bridge and the west coast from Bonita Beach northward to Aripeka.

The depression could intensify into a tropical storm by late Saturday as it traverses the Florida Keys. From there, it is predicted to make landfall over northern Florida on late Sunday before moving into the Atlantic by Monday.

What to Expect in Greenville

The weather in Greenville for the coming week hinges heavily on the movement of this storm. The National Hurricane Center believes the system will steer north-northeast towards Florida’s panhandle before veering back over land and into the Atlantic. At this point, the storm should travel up the Eastern Seaboard, keeping close to the coasts of the Carolinas.

For now, the forecast for this weekend includes **high temperatures in the 90s with potential overnight showers and thunderstorms**. Strong winds are not currently expected, but this could change depending on how the cyclone develops.

Current Storm Conditions

  • Location: 90 miles east-southeast of Camaguey, Cuba; 420 miles southeast of Key West
  • Maximum sustained winds: 30 mph
  • Movement: west-northwest at 16 mph

Are You Prepared?

Even if this storm doesn’t directly hit our coast, it’s important to be prepared because hurricane season runs from **June 1 to November 30**. Take measures to ensure you and your loved ones stay safe during these months. Stay updated with reliable weather forecasts and ready your emergency supplies.

Stay tuned for more updates, and ensure you are informed as this weather event progresses!
