In the small town of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, public safety officials reported a possible drowning incident at the Irvin Pitts Memorial Park. Information received from a 911 call made on Monday evening suggested that an “older woman” was believed to have gone underwater and did not resurface.
Shortly after receiving the call, which came in around 6:45 p.m., a team comprising of divers, helicopters, and multiple emergency crews commenced a full-fledged search operation. Despite the extensive search efforts, the woman in question could not be located.
The search operation which lasted nearly three hours was eventually suspended at about 9:30 p.m. Officials at the scene noted, however, that the pausing of activities did not signify the end of their efforts. Plans for resuming the search the following day were hinted at, although no specific time was mentioned.
This incident has left the residents of Ware Shoals with some unanswered questions and, understandably, a touch of unease. The identity of the woman has not been made public and it is unclear whether she had been at the park alone or accompanied.
We join the community in hoping for a positive resolution to this situation and will be keeping a close eye on any developments. Please tune in for updates on this story as more information becomes available.
