Pittsburgh High School Sports Week: Playoff Action Kicks Off with Football, Field Hockey, and Soccer Championships

High School Sports Update from Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is buzzing with excitement as high school sports teams gear up for significant playoff action this week. The Field Hockey teams are set for their PIAA tournament semifinals on Tuesday, with some intense matchups scheduled. In Class 3A, the undefeated Villa Maria Academy (23-1) will face off against Emmaus (25-1) at Exeter Township starting at 6 p.m., while Central Bucks West (22-4) takes on Conestoga (20-3) at Methacton, also at 6 p.m.

Class 2A action features Kennett (16-7-1) meeting Northern York (21-3) at Millersville University at 6 p.m. Additionally, Palmyra (17-5) will battle Warwick (21-1) at Landis Field, kicking off at 5 p.m. The Class A semifinals are just as thrilling, with Wyoming Area (20-0) squaring off against Boiling Springs (19-5) at Milton at 6 p.m., and Newport (19-5) taking on West Perry (22-0) at Susquenita at the same time.

On the football front, the WPIAL Class 6A Championship will showcase Central Catholic (9-2) against North Allegheny (10-1) at Norwin on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Meanwhile, Class 5A semifinals will take place on Friday, with Pine-Richland (10-1) going head-to-head with Bethel Park (11-2) at North Hills at 7 p.m. Upper St. Clair (11-0) will also clash against Peters Township (10-1) at Bethel Park, also at 7 p.m.

The soccer teams are also in the midst of their PIAA tournament semifinals on Tuesday. In Class 4A, Great Valley (17-6-2) play Parkland (22-0) at Exeter Township at 8 p.m., and Cumberland Valley (20-1-1) goes against Warwick (19-3) at Landis Field at 7 p.m. The girls’ and boys’ teams across various classes are ready to show their skills in the final stages of the tournament.
