Pittsburgh High School Sports Heat Up with Crucial Playoff Matchups This Week

High School Sports News Overview

In Pittsburgh, excitement fills the air as high school sports teams gear up for a busy week. The ice hockey scene is heating up on Monday night with several key matchups. Franklin Regional is set to go head-to-head with Upper St. Clair at Ice Castle at 9 p.m. Also on the ice, Penn-Trafford faces Bishop McCort at the Cambria County War Memorial starting at 6 p.m.

Other notable hockey games include Fox Chapel against Norwin at Palmer Imaging Arena at 7:10 p.m. and Hampton squaring off against North Hills at RMU Island Sports Center at 7:15 p.m. As the night progresses, fans can look forward to the clash between Chartiers Valley and Plum at Pittsburgh Ice Arena at 8 p.m., and Freeport versus West Allegheny at 9 p.m. You won’t want to miss these heated competitions!

Meanwhile, the WPIAL playoffs for soccer also kick off this week. Tuesday’s highlights include Gateway taking on Canon-McMillan at 6:30 p.m. There are several teams that are hoping to make a strong postseason run, including Peters Township and Northern Allegheny, who both secured byes.

In girls’ soccer, Peters Township will be looking to continue their successful season, having a bye on Monday. The excitement carries into the court as volleyball playoffs are set to start too. For instance, Fox Chapel will be visiting Upper St. Clair this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
