It’s been a challenging week for families in Newberry, South Carolina, as widespread power outages have affected the community since a recent storm passed through. Newberry County Sheriff, Lee Foster, explained the process, stating, “When one of those poles goes out, it’s a minimum of three hours to replace the pole.” It’s clear that restoring power is a logistical challenge that requires time and effort.

One such resident, Dantoni Thompson, was among the many who visited the makeshift supplies station. Despite having lost power himself, Dantoni was there to pick up items not only for himself but also to help his neighbors. He shared some of the challenges the storm brought, saying, “It was rough; we had no electricity and no power.” However, his selflessness shone through as he mentioned, “I’m helping my neighbors out. I have an elderly neighbor on one side of me, and he just got his power restored not too long ago.”
