Laurens County Kicks Off School Year with New Buses and Drivers
Laurens County, S.C.
Laurens County School District 55 is all set for an exciting start to the school year, boasting **new buses** and **new drivers**. The district has ensured a driver for every bus route, enabling the addition of more routes and reducing overcrowding on existing ones.
“Having those extra bus drivers we’ve hired means they are going to be able to put them on those routes that have been in need of a driver. Those kids won’t have to be all packed on the bus on double or triple routes,” says Reco Wright, the director of transportation.
Better Resources for Better Commutes
Laurens County has also been gifted with **four brand new buses**. Two of these buses will serve District 55, while the other two will operate in District 56. Faye Colley, the district 55 coordinator of communication, expressed her relief and optimism:
“We cannot ask for anything more. I know funds are always tight, so to have those extra transportation modes is a blessing. We can show we prioritize the children here in Laurens County.”
Colley added that distributing road responsibilities among more drivers aims to uplift their morale, making them **feel less stressed** and more appreciated as they kick off the new academic year.
A Promising Start
The initiative by Laurens County School District 55 reflects a **commitment to improving the daily commute** for students. It’s hoped that these efforts will foster a better and more efficient learning environment, making the journey to education a smoother one for everyone involved.
