Exciting New Restaurant Coming to Laurens!
Laurens residents, get ready for some mouth-watering news! The popular Upstate restaurant, Arnold’s, is all set to make its grand entrance in our lovely town. In a recent meeting, the Laurens City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance that allows for negotiations on a lease agreement with the owners, Gary and Zachary Durkee. This exciting decision came during the second reading on Tuesday evening, just days after the council passed the same ordinance on first reading during a special called meeting.
New Location, New Vibes
Arnold’s will be leasing a space in the historic Capitol Theatre, located at 104 E. Main St. This space was previously occupied by a café, but it’s making way for something even better! Mayor Nathan Senn expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, highlighting the benefits not only for the restaurant but for the entire Laurens community.
“From the city’s standpoint, there’s a benefit to us because we will have a source of income to support programming,” Senn shared during the special meeting. He continued, “There’s a benefit to the entire community because there will be a source of vibrancy in that space that will drive patrons to other events and shops.” It sounds like a win-win situation for everyone!
The Arnold’s Experience
For those unfamiliar with Arnold’s, let me tell you, you’re in for a treat! Known for their famous homemade burgers, they also have a diverse menu that includes everything from delightful sandwiches to juicy sirloin steaks. The Durkees recently shared their excitement about expanding to Laurens, stating, “We can’t wait to bring our award-winning burgers, premium steak, chicken, and salmon dishes to your area. Whether you’re dining with friends or family, we’re here to offer fresh, flavorful meals that are a step above fast casual.” Yum!
A Commitment to the Community
What makes Arnold’s even more appealing is their commitment to giving back. They believe in supporting local charitable causes and helping raise funds for those in need. According to their announcement, “When you dine with us, you’re also making a difference.” So, every bite you take not only satisfies your appetite but also contributes to the community!
Renovations Underway
While the excitement builds for Arnold’s opening, the city is busy making improvements to the Capitol Theatre. Renovations are currently taking place to modernize the theatre stage, ensuring it meets contemporary code standards. Additional lighting and sound installations are also on the agenda. The plans for Arnold’s include creating connectivity between the kitchen and the dining area, along with adding a lovely entrance to enhance the dining experience.
City Council Updates
In other news from the council meeting, they also approved a second reading of an ordinance that allows the Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) to collect debt on behalf of the City of Laurens. This action is primarily focused on resolving a significant issue regarding approximately $60,000 that residents owe for garbage collection services. It’s important for residents to note that they have until December 1 to settle any outstanding debts with the city.
So, Laurens, as we bask in the gorgeous weather—sun and clouds mixed, with a high of around 85F and a low dipping to 64F—let’s get ready to welcome Arnold’s and enjoy all the delicious food and community spirit they bring! With winds light and variable, it’s the perfect time to gather with friends and family, whether at home or soon at our new local dining hotspot.
