Hey there, Laurens! Mark your calendars! For those in the community, excitement is brewing as the second annual National Night Out is just around the corner. Originally scheduled for earlier in October, this fantastic event has been rescheduled to November 13th, 2024, due to recent storm damage. So grab your family and friends, because this is one gathering you won’t want to miss!
National Night Out—known affectionately as NNO—started back in the early 1980s when law enforcement, neighborhood watch groups, and community volunteers recognized the need for a collective event. The idea was simple: create a fun and engaging platform where community members and first responders can come together, connect, and celebrate. The aim is to build a stronger relationship during good times—because let’s face it, strong communities make for safer neighborhoods!
This year, the Lahurens Police Department is thrilled to host the event from 6 PM to 8 PM at the historic ❤️Laurens Square❤️. Chief Heath Copeland shared, “We are incredibly excited to bring our community together for the second annual National Night Out. This event is a chance for us to engage, connect, and build lasting relationships in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.”
So what can you expect at NNO 2024? Well, get ready for an action-packed evening! First responders from across the county will be there, including the Laurens Police Department, Laurens County Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, and many more, ready to meet and greet the community.
One of the highlights will be the opportunity to check out various first responder vehicles, including an impressive FirstNet Helicopter! It’s a great chance for everyone, especially the little ones, to learn about the day-to-day heroics and hard work of our first responders. And there’s more! You can groove to some live music, fill your bellies with free food, and let the kids enjoy a variety of engaging activities.
Certainly, we can’t forget about the impressive car show that’s set to rev up the excitement! Food trucks will also be on site offering delicious options for purchase from some well-loved vendors, including Madwigs Concessions, Lobster Dogs, Wired Treats, and Larrios Doggie Wagon. You can also support local shops and eateries that will be open to showcase their goodies. There’s truly something for all ages!
The event has garnered an impressive lineup of partnerships. Local organizations such as the Carolina Choo Choo, Children’s Museum, Big Air, Tiny Trotters, and Laurens Public Library have teamed up to contribute to this special night. It’s a wonderful embodiment of community spirit!
As expected, many sponsors and vendors have joined hands to make this event possible. Contributions from All-out Bail Bonding, Genesis Smiles, Family Eye Care Center, and Walmart, to name a few, demonstrate the strong backing from local businesses. Chief Copeland expressed gratitude by saying, “We are grateful for the support and we look forward to seeing everyone on November 13 for an unforgettable evening of celebration and unity.”
So, what are you waiting for? Dust off your dancing shoes and prepare for an evening filled with fun, connection, and community spirit right here in Laurens. The second annual National Night Out is shaping up to be an unforgettable event, and the entire community is invited. Let’s come together, celebrate our heroes, and reinforce those community ties that keep our neighborhoods thriving!
