Mountlake Terrace Edges Shorecrest in Overtime Thriller

Mountlake Terrace, WA – In a highly contested football game on Sunday, September 29, 2024, Mountlake Terrace outlasted Shorecrest 19-16 in overtime. The game, which was a part of the Wesco 3A South matchup, was closely fought, with the teams finishing regulation time tied at 13-13.

Shorecrest started overtime with the ball and managed to kick a field goal, giving them a 16-13 lead. However, the Hawks quickly responded with a game-winning touchdown, improving their league record to 2-0 and overall record to 3-1.

On the offensive side, Mason Wilson led the team with a passing performance of 8 for 19, throwing for 97 yards. He also contributed significantly in the rushing department with 16 carries for 60 yards and 1 touchdown. Owen Boswell added 81 yards on 17 carries with another touchdown. The Hawks were also effective in the air, with Nate Brown catching 5 passes for 60 yards.

When it came to defense, several players stepped up, with Cody Ekanayake leading the team with 9 total tackles. Mason Wilson also shined defensively, racking up 1.5 sacks.

Mountlake Terrace will look to keep their momentum going next week as they face Monroe on Friday, October 4 at 8 p.m. at Edmonds Woodway High School.

In other local action, Meadowdale defeated Edmonds-Woodway 34-27, bringing their league record to 1-2 and overall to 1-3. Edmonds-Woodway’s record fell to 0-3 in league play and 1-3 overall.

Shorewood also had a strong performance, defeating Lynnwood 49-7. Shorewood is now sitting at 3-1 while Lynnwood’s record fell to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Meadowdale will face Shorecrest on Friday, October 4 at 5 p.m. Edmonds-Woodway is set to take on Sedro Woolley on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m.
