Meadowdale High School Sports Report: December 18, 2024

Meadowdale was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, as the wrestling team faced off against Lynnwood, winning the match with a score of 40-31. The match featured several standout performances. Notably, at 120 pounds, Melyk Valencia from Meadowdale achieved an impressive pin against Eron Hecita in just 1:21. Ashton Myers also put on a dominant display at 126 pounds, securing a major decision over Lukah Washburn with a score of 13-0.

Lynnwood fought hard, with Eric Ly winning a closely contested match at 132 pounds, defeating Hector Castro 10-6. However, the night belonged to Meadowdale as they continued to rack up points with Miguel Garcia pinning Jered Sum at 2:00 and Christopher Ramirez earning a technical fall with a score of 15-0.

In boys basketball action, Edmonds-Woodway had a dominating performance against Archbishop Murphy, winning 72-36. Cam Hiatt led the scoring with 19 points, with Will Alseth contributing 17 points. This victory improves Edmonds-Woodway’s record to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell triumphed over Mountlake Terrace with a score of 62-51. Bubba Palacol was the highlight performer for Marysville with 21 points, while Mountlake Terrace’s Svayjeet Singh led his team with 15 points.

Looking ahead, Meadowdale will take on Shorecrest in wrestling on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Meadowdale High School. On the basketball side, they will play against Mountlake Terrace on Friday, December 20, at 6:30 p.m.

Lynnwood will have a busy schedule as well, facing Everett on Thursday, December 19, at 7 p.m. at Lynnwood High School for basketball, while also competing in swimming events on the same day against Cascade and Edmonds-Woodway at 2:45 p.m.
