Back to school season is arriving with a delightful twist for Laurens County School District 55. This year, the district is introducing brand new buses and welcoming an increased number of new drivers to ensure a smoother and more efficient transportation experience for students.
More Routes, Less Stress
The district has successfully addressed the issue of bus driver shortages. According to the district’s Director of Transportation, Reco Wright, the additional drivers mean that students won’t have to endure being packed on double or triple routes anymore. “Having those extra bus drivers we’ve hired means we can now cover routes that were previously underserved. This change ensures that every student will have a comfortable and timely ride to school,” Wright explained enthusiastically.
New Buses on the Block
Laurens County School District 55 has also taken delivery of four brand new buses, divided evenly between district 55 and district 56. These state-of-the-art buses are expected to improve the overall safety and efficiency of the district’s transport services. “We couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Faye Colley, the district’s coordinator of communication. “In times when funds are tight, getting these new buses is a real blessing. It’s a clear indication that we prioritize our children’s welfare here in Laurens County.”
Uplifted and Less Stressed Drivers
With the routes now spread out more evenly among the drivers, the district hopes this will lead to a more satisfying work experience for them. Colley added, “We aim to make our drivers feel more uplifted and less stressed as they go into the new school year. Happy drivers mean happy and safe students.”
