Clinton, S.C. – Large Fire Reignites, Destroying Multiple Businesses
Hotspots have reignited a large fire that destroyed multiple businesses in Clinton. This fire initially started on Tuesday in the back of House of Pizza located on Musgrove Street and rapidly spread to four other adjacent businesses. Unfortunately, three of these businesses experienced extensive damage and were lost in the blaze.
The Clinton Fire Department reported that while battling the initial fire, five firefighters sustained injuries. Despite their efforts, the fire managed to spread and cause significant destruction.
Reoccurrence of Fire
Fire Marshal Donya Langston mentioned that crews were called back to the scene late Wednesday night due to hotspots reigniting the fire. It’s believed that a falling ceiling beam possibly triggered these hotspots. While there is currently just smoke visible, a fire watch has been established, and crews are diligently spraying water to prevent further flare-ups.
An insurance company is expected to arrive on-site on Friday to evaluate the damage. Cleanup efforts are on hold until this assessment is completed. The town of Clinton is rallying together to support the affected businesses and to expedite the path toward recovery.
