Clinton to Celebrate Hometown Heroes at Special Half-time Tribute During Football Game

Clinton Prepares to Honor Hometown Heroes

In a heartwarming show of gratitude, Clinton is rolling out the red carpet for its heroes on the evening of Saturday, September 21. Presbyterian College (PC) is set to honor the brave firefighters and first responders who rushed into action during a frightening blaze that swept through downtown Clinton on August 27. With the quick response of these dedicated individuals, many lives, homes, and businesses were saved from the flames.

A Special Halftime Tribute

The recognition event is scheduled for halftime during the Blue Hose football game against Gardner-Webb University, which kicks off at 7 p.m. in Bailey Memorial Stadium. As community members gather to cheer for their team, they’ll also have the chance to cheer for the heroes who selflessly put their lives on the line.

In a thoughtful gesture, all firefighters and first responders who participated on that fateful day, along with their families, will receive complementary tickets and reserved seating for this special “Hometown Heroes” event. It’s a chance for the community to show just how much they appreciate the sacrifices these individuals make every single day.

Words of Appreciation from Leadership

PC athletic director Dee Nichols expressed heartfelt sentiments about the tribute, saying, “We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to honor the many first responders who put themselves at risk daily to protect people and property. We want to thank them publicly for their quick response when we needed it.”

This powerful sentiment was echoed by PC President Dr. Anita Gustafson, who emphasized the college’s commitment to community service. “At Presbyterian College, we believe that service to others and to the community is paramount,” she stated. “On August 27, first responders from all over Laurens County and the Upstate bravely answered the call to serve during a dangerous and life-threatening situation. We are thankful for everyone who came to our city’s defense and put their lives on the line to protect our community.”
