Exciting Holiday Cheer Awaits in Laurens with the Launch of Santa’s Village and Festive Events

Exciting Holiday Cheer in Laurens with Santa’s Village!

As the holiday season approaches, the beautiful city of Laurens is buzzing with festive energy! There’s a delightful chill in the air, with temperatures hovering around 50°F today and a 100% chance of rain expected. So, grab your umbrellas and your warm coats because the joy of the season is worth braving the elements!

Introducing Santa’s Village

One of the most exciting additions this year is Santa’s Village, which is currently being set up and decorated in the Plaza, right near City Hall. This enchanting village is designed to create a charming atmosphere, featuring what looks like four of Santa’s workshops!

The village will be available for families to explore all month long, giving children the chance to peek through the windows of Santa’s workshops and imagine what happens inside. It’s also the perfect spot for family photos that will capture these magical moments.

A Packed Schedule for Tree Lighting Ceremony

Mark your calendars for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, happening on December 6 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Mayor Nathan Senn shared that during the ceremony, the village will be open, and both Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to meet the kids!

Families can enjoy a variety of activities at Santa’s Village. One workshop will be filled with toys and local merchandise, allowing you to find inexpensive gifts that showcase your hometown pride. Another workshop will be run by city staff, featuring a sweet shop serving hot chocolate, popcorn, and all the necessary supplies to make s’mores by the firepit!

Kids can also have a blast at the third workshop hosted by the Mayor’s Youth Council, where they will organize fun games. The fourth workshop will feature students from Sanders Middle School helping visitors with holiday crafts.

Christmas Market and Festivities

The Christmas Market is making its second appearance this year, starting at 3:00 PM, offering a delightful selection of food, crafts, and unique gifts from local vendors. You can shop till you drop and then return the next morning for more festivities.

Adding a musical touch to the evening will be performances by the Davidson Brass and student carolers, who will fill the air with beautiful melodies. Additionally, there are plenty of activities for families to enjoy, including delightful carriage rides through the picturesque streets of downtown Laurens.

A Growing Tradition

As Mayor Senn reminisces, the tree lighting event has grown remarkably over the years. “We started by putting the tree in an open lot; there might have been a choir and people stood in the road for just 15 minutes,” he reflected. But as the years went by, they’ve continued to expand the event, bringing in wonderful additions like the illuminated bike ride and, now, Santa’s Village.

This year’s theme, “Come Home to Laurens”, encapsulates the spirit of the holidays perfectly. The city aims to create a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that Laurens feels like the best version of home to its residents while inviting newcomers to fall in love with its charm.

Join Us for Holiday Fun!

With a beautiful downtown area, festive music, shopping options, tasty food, and activities for the whole family, the holiday kickoff in Laurens promises to be a memorable experience for everyone. It’s a great time to create lasting memories and perhaps even start a new family tradition!

So bundle up, bring your family and friends, and get ready to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year in our lovely town of Laurens!
