High School Sports Thriving in Minneapolis: Key Performances and Upcoming Tournaments

Minneapolis witnessed an exciting day of high school sports as teams battled it out in various sports competitions, showcasing their skills and endurance.

Adapted Soccer Thrills

In the adapted soccer game, Rochester triumphed over St. Paul Humboldt, finishing with a score of 8-5. This close match delighted fans and offered a thrilling display of athleticism and teamwork.

Cross-Country Showdown

The cross-country events sparked intense rivalries. In the Boys Class 3A Section 4 race at Highland National Golf Club, Stillwater claimed victory with a total score of 30, qualifying for the state meet. Individual standout, Dylan Rinkier, finished the race with a time of 15:55.7.

Two Rivers came in second with 47 points, and individual qualifiers included Vaughn Larson and Max Popp from White Bear Lake, showcasing their impressive times of 15:57.8 and 16:24.1 respectively.

Girls Cross-Country Highlights

The girls also showed their talents in cross-country at Highland National Golf Club. White Bear Lake grabbed the win with a score of 58, advancing to state, while St. Paul Central closely followed with 60 points, winning in a tie-breaker. Logan Bailey led her team with a time of 18:43.1.

Soccer Championships

In the world of soccer, both boys and girls teams competed fiercely in the state tournament quarterfinals. The boys’ team from Mpls. Washburn easily defeated Bemidji with a score of 3-0. The girls’ team from Edina also displayed their dominance, shutting out Duluth East 5-0 to move forward in the tournament.

Volleyball Action

In volleyball, teams battled through intense matches. In the Class 4A Section 1, matches were closely contested. Farmington fought hard to defeat Owatonna in a five-set thriller, while Lakeville North swept Rochester Century 25-15, 25-11, 25-9.

This day of sports in Minneapolis highlighted the talent and determination of young athletes as they continued their journeys through state competitions. Communities came together to support their teams, showcasing the spirit and enthusiasm of high school sports.
