BRIDGEPORT – In a thrilling display of skills and teamwork, local high school teams faced off in various matchups across the region, delivering exciting results that will surely ignite school spirit.
At Kaplanis Field, Abbott Tech secured a solid victory against O’Brien Tech, finishing with a score of 4-0. The standout performance was led by Danny Granizo, who netted two goals, while Jordan Saetama and Ricardo Redrovan each added to the tally. Assists came from Mateo Diaz, Matheus Pinto, and Jake Cassidy. In goal, Jason Rivera had a quiet day with no saves needed as his defense kept O’Brien from making a shot on goal.
Meanwhile, Amity dominated Sheehan with a score of 4-0. Matteo Santin was the star of the match, scoring all four goals. Assists were credited to Ethan Weatherly, Luke Long, Ben Macci, and Hayden Friborg. Goalkeeper Will Keenan made one save, showcasing a strong defense.
In a hard-fought draw, Bacon Academy and Woodstock Academy both managed to score a goal, ending the match with a 1-1 tie. Kaden Treat found the back of the net for Bacon, and Zach Carroll stood out with seven saves.
Over at the Montville field, Montville showcased their prowess with an impressive 8-0 victory against Tourtellotte. Standouts included Chris Baukus who scored a hat trick, and Ryan Hochdorfer who contributed with a goal and an assist. Montville’s defense was rock solid with just three saves by Logan Leonard.
In other matchups, East Hampton celebrated a close 1-0 victory over Haddam-Killingworth, while Ledyard defeated New London 3-1. In girls’ soccer, Bethel also enjoyed success with a commanding 4-0 win over Bunnell, led by Laina Caffrey‘s two goals.
