District of Columbia High School Football Rankings Update

As the 2024 District of Columbia high school football season enters its third week, the rankings show that the strongest teams in the area continue to hold their ground. The latest On3 Massey Ratings top 25 list, as of September 18, reveals minimal changes from last week, with six of the top ten teams still undefeated.

The top-ranked Gonzaga Eagles stay strong, shutting out their opponents thus far, allowing only seven points in their recent game against Loyola Blakefield. Quarterback Jason Lindsay led the charge with 204 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back David Fred added 149 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles are set to face the fifth-ranked Archbishop Carroll on September 20.

At number two, the St. John’s Cadets have also been impressive, surrendering just seven points over the last two games while scoring a total of 94. Their previous game against Archbishop Carroll saw them rack up 52 points, thanks to Breyon Williams and his three touchdowns. They will be looking to extend their winning streak against Friendship Collegiate.

Holding the third position are the Friendship Collegiate Knights, who have impressed with back-to-back shutouts this season, allowing only six points in total. They will have a big test against Dunbar, currently ranked fourth.

The Dunbar Crimson Tide come in at number four, showcasing one of the best offenses in the league with impressive game scores of 43, 60, and 52. They faced a formidable challenge against Friendship Collegiate on September 20.

Archbishop Carroll sits at number five, struggling since their victory over Coolidge, losing by a large margin to St. John’s. They will also face Gonzaga on the 20th.

The bottom half of the top ten has Roosevelt at number six, followed by St. Albans at number seven, Woodson at number eight, Maret at number nine, and Coolidge rounding out the top ten.

With another exciting round of games set to kick off on September 20, high school football fans in the District of Columbia are eagerly anticipating how these rankings will shift as teams battle it out on the field.
