High School Football Scores Highlight Thrilling Start to Vermont’s 2024 Fall Season

Vermont High School Fall Sports Update

This week in Vermont, the 2024 high school fall season has kicked off with exciting matchups across various sports. The soccer fields, volleyball courts, and cross-country trails are bustling with young athletes showcasing their skills.

Soccer Highlights

In soccer news, Vermont edged out NJIT with a close score of 2-1. Jill Brody and Emma Warren each netted a goal, supported by assists from Torie Snyder and Kate Bossert. In other matches, Colchester defeated South Burlington 1-0, thanks to Kate Bradford’s goal 22 minutes into the second half.

North Country and Milton ended their game in a 0-0 tie after overtime, with solid performances from Ava Bouchard and Isabella Kang, who made 11 and 0 saves respectively. Meanwhile, Paine Mountain narrowly defeated Blue Mountain in a thrilling game that ended with a score of 5-4.

Field Hockey and Volleyball Action

In field hockey, Hazen fought hard against Caledonia United but fell short, losing 1-0. Hazel Abetti scored the only goal for Caledonia, with notable saves by Eliska Siebenbrunner. Thetford beat Lamoille 2-1, with Emmett Terry and Dempsey McGovern scoring crucial second-half goals.

In volleyball, Lyndon triumphed over Colchester in a nail-biter, winning 3-2. Standout players included Noa Martinez with 27 assists and Kelsey Robinson contributing 5 aces and 8 kills. This close match highlighted the competitive spirit of the teams.
