Montville, CT – The Montville High School girls’ soccer team showcased their strength in a decisive match against Plainfield, ending with a score of 7-2 on Saturday. The game was held at Montville, where the home team continued their impressive run this fall season.
In the first half, Montville got off to a strong start with Allie Kondash scoring two of the team’s four goals. Her teammate, MacKenzie O’Donnell, also netted two goals in the same half. By halftime, Montville held a commanding lead of 4-1, with Plainfield’s Leila Mendez accounting for their only goal.
As the second half resumed, Montville maintained their momentum. O’Donnell struck again, bringing her tally to three goals for the game, while Kondash also added two more to her growing total. Plainfield managed to score once more with Keriana Heredia finding the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap as Montville finished strong with a total of seven goals.
Overall, Montville managed 20 shots on goal, while Plainfield had 18. Montville’s goalie, Sienna Gressly, made an impressive 14 saves throughout the game, showcasing a solid defensive performance.
Meanwhile, Lyman Memorial also had a standout performance, dominating New London with a score of 7-0. The team was lead by Emily Mckelvey and Avery Volle, who each scored twice. Lyman ended the first half with a commanding 5-0 lead and finished the match confidently.
In another match, Old Saybrook defeated East Hampton, coming through with a 4-1 victory. Arianna Fox stood out for Old Saybrook, scoring two goals. The team had multiple assists from Annalise Sarette, underlining their teamwork on the field.
Oxford edged out Watertown with a close 2-1 result, thanks to goals from Gavin Shupp and Lucas Arnold. The game saw Oxford’s defense working hard as they managed to secure the win despite an own goal.
As the fall season continues, teams like Montville and Lyman Memorial are looking strong and primed for further success in the coming weeks.
