High School Sports Recap: Action-Packed Friday Night

On a cool Friday night, high schools around the area lit up the field and court as teams competed for glory. Here’s a recap of the exciting varsity action that went down on November 1st.

Starting off with football, the Arundel Wildcats showcased their dominance against Annapolis, winning 43-6. TJ Mordecai had a standout performance with three rushing touchdowns and 110 yards to help Arundel finish the regular season strong at 8-1. Quarterback Ahmir Lowery not only threw for 113 yards, including touchdown passes to Darius Burton and Jacob Dy, but he also scored a rushing touchdown himself. For Annapolis, Darrian Carter connected on a 70-yard touchdown pass but it wasn’t enough to pull off the upset.

In another thrilling game, Old Mill edged out Meade with a close score of 32-27. Wide receiver Tahzay Brown dazzled with 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Old Mill quarterback Trey Martini tossed four touchdown passes, accumulating 269 yards. In a valiant effort for Meade, Alijah Johnson threw for a touchdown and Kameryn Henry rushed for 146 yards on 34 carries.

Switching to soccer, the Broadneck Bruins crushed Montgomery Blair with a score of 10-0. Abbie Morris led the charge with a hat trick, and the Bruins are heading to the state semifinals after a commanding performance.

In field hockey, C. Milton Wright dominated Rising Sun with a 3-0 sweep in the 2A East Region I semifinals, thanks to a strong effort from Ana Mioduski, who contributed 12 aces. On another thrilling note, Liberty’s girls soccer team secured a commanding 5-0 victory over International HS at Largo, highlighted by a hat trick from Lucas Britos.

This Friday was full of memorable moments across various sports, and as the season progresses, students and fans alike are eagerly looking forward to what comes next!
