High School Sports Roundup – Cranston
Cranston witnessed an exciting day of high school sports with several teams showcasing their skills in various matches.
In Division III girls soccer, the Cranston East Thunderbolts faced off against the Rogers Vikings and came away with a solid 4-0 victory. Goals from Madisen Gallo, Jaelyn Cogean, Lena Ramcharran, and Tia Sanzaro secured the win for the Thunderbolts, bringing their record to 9-7-3. The loss put the Vikings at 5-12-1, unable to find the back of the net.
In a dominant performance in Division IV girls soccer, the Lincoln School Lynx crushed Times2 with a staggering 10-0 scoreline. Sarah Berube led the charge with two goals and two assists, while Bianca Monteiro-Lopes and Sophia DeMelo each added a pair of goals. The Lynx improved to 11-3-1 with this win.
Division II girls tennis saw Lincoln take on Cumberland in a preliminary match. Lincoln emerged victorious with a score of 4-0. Highlights included Tanvi Bobbilli winning her match decisively with scores of 6-0, 6-1, advancing the Lions to the quarterfinals where they will play against Prout on Friday.
In boys soccer, Portsmouth Patriots triumphed over the South Kingstown Rebels in a tightly contested match, winning 3-0 and moving their record to 15-1. Hailey Labonte stood out with 13 kills, 5 aces, and 10 digs among others contributing significantly.
In volleyball, the EWG Scarlet Knights swept West Warwick with a score of 3-0, thanks to Isabella McCombs and Kate Herbert’s impressive performances. Meanwhile, Barrington Eagles showcased their strength with a similar victory of 3-0 over North Smithfield, leading the division with a record of 16-2.
