"Action-packed Football Field"
This past Friday saw an action-packed night for high school sports, with plenty of thrilling matches and standout performances from players across various schools.
In a decisive victory, Lewis Mills overwhelmed Middletown with a score of 5-1. Leah Mischke, Riley Mills, Gemma Goshdigian, and Lily Castle each scored for Mills, while Yori Perry-Rice found the net for Middletown. Mills displayed a solid defense, with Anna Henry making 7 saves throughout the game.
Over in the CTC Quarterfinals, Wolcott Tech secured a 5-3 win against Wilcox Tech. Senior striker Kendall Contadini was the standout player, netting four goals, including a penalty kick. Freshman Allisen Pleil contributed with one goal and one assist, while junior goalie Meghan McKearney tallied 13 saves to help her team advance.
In another exciting matchup in the FCIAC quarterfinals, New Canaan took down Trumbull 3-1. Sydney Patten shone for New Canaan, scoring two goals, while Trumbull managed to convert a rare own goal.
Staples also came out on top, defeating Greenwich with a clean slate of 3-0. Annabel Edwards, Taylor Lunney, and Addie Talbot were the scorers for Staples.
Meanwhile, in the NVL Quarterfinals, Naugatuck dominated with a 4-0 win over Holy Cross, showcasing their strength as they continue in the playoffs.
