High School Football Highlights: Last Week's Star Performers

This past week in sports saw some incredible performances from high school athletes across the region. In football, the CBA Brothers triumphed over Guilderland with a resounding 49-6 victory. Junior quarterback Archie Jones had a stellar game, completing 11-of-14 passes for 214 yards and throwing four touchdowns. Teammate Lucius Anderson made significant contributions by catching six passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns, while Tommy Toher added 181 rushing yards and one touchdown, further showcasing CBA’s offensive strength.

In another standout matchup, Ihsann Alozie from Shenendehowa emerged as a force, rushing for 240 yards and scoring twice in a solid 28-0 win against Saratoga Springs. On the other hand, Brady Wyland helped Colonie secure a narrow 21-15 victory against La Salle with eight receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Zavry Ward of Queensbury also shined, throwing four touchdowns in a thrilling 28-21 overtime win against Columbia.

The remarkable plays extended to cross-country and soccer as well. Queensbury’s Liam Davidson secured victory in the Foothills Council championships, finishing with a time of 15 minutes and 34.5 seconds. Meanwhile, in boys’ soccer, Connor Byrnes of Schalmont scored the decisive goal to help his team clinch the Class A championship in a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime win against Ichabod Crane.

Looking forward, several exciting games are on the schedule for this week. Highlights include Shenendehowa facing Shaker in football and the anticipated soccer match between Waterford-Halfmoon and Loudonville Christian. With the competitive spirit in the air, athletes are gearing up for another week of thrilling challenges and unforgettable moments.
