High School Basketball Roundup: Jackson and Mountlake Terrace Shine

This past Sunday, December 8, 2024, saw some exciting high school basketball action in the local area. The Jackson High School team pulled off a nail-biting victory against Meadowdale, winning 59-56 in a match that showcased skill and determination from both sides. Jackson’s top scorer, Seamus Williams, led the charge with an impressive 17 points, along with seven assists and five rebounds. Meadowdale’s standout performer, Natnael Ghirmay, answered back with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. This brings both teams’ records to 1-1 for the season.

Coming up next, Meadowdale will face Monroe on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:15 p.m. at Meadowdale High School.

In another game, Mountlake Terrace turned up the heat against Lynnwood with a decisive 70-33 victory. They dominated the court, leading at every quarter: 22-14, 17-14, 17-8, and 17-7. Recognized for their scoring prowess, Svayjeet Singh led Mountlake Terrace with 12 points, while both Rayshaun Connor and Brody Myers-Little added 11 points each. Mountlake Terrace now holds an impressive record of 2-0 overall, while Lynnwood falls to 0-3.

Mountlake Terrace’s next matchup is against Arlington, scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, at 7:15 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School. On the same day, Lynnwood is set to face off against Snohomish at 7:15 p.m..

Additionally, Edmonds-Woodway showed their strength defeating Bishop Blanchet by a score of 64-39. Cameron Hiatt was the leading scorer for Edmonds-Woodway with 17 points, helping the team improve their record to 2-0. They are scheduled to play against Kamiak on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:15 p.m..

In girls’ basketball, Mountlake Terrace secured a close win over Lynnwood, finishing 55-53. Jaliyah Dyson led the scoring with 15 points, while Emma Schmidt added 14 points to the tally. With this victory, Mountlake Terrace also boasts a perfect record of 2-0.
