This week in Cincinnati, high school football teams are busy battling it out as the postseason continues for Ohio and Indiana schools. Numerous local teams are in action, making for exciting matchups across the region.
In a standout performance, the Lakota West Firebirds shut out the Walnut Hills Eagles with a decisive score of 49-0. The Lakota West defense was impressive, allowing just a mere 20 total yards from Walnut Hills, including a shocking -13 rushing yards. Offensively, Lakota West’s team gathered 277 rushing yards, with Jackson Smith and Kenyon Norman each contributing significantly, both scoring touchdowns.
In another thrilling game, the Lakota East Thunderhawks faced off against West Clermont in a close contest. After a tight first half, Lakota East pulled away to win 42-28. Ryder Hooks had a standout game, rushing for 272 yards and scoring four touchdowns, setting career highs. The Thunderhawks totalled 528 yards of offense throughout the game.
The Newport Wildcats wrapped up their regular season with an impressive 37-0 victory against Holy Cross, earning their third shutout of the season. Quarterback Kyle Lee threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns, making it a noteworthy performance as the Wildcats finished with a record of 7-2.
In other notable games, Covington Catholic managed to overpower Campbell County 42-28, and Clinton-Massie dominated Roger Bacon with a score of 41-7. Furthermore, Elder advanced in the postseason by defeating Mason 28-3.
