This past Friday was an exciting day for high school sports across the region, with several teams showcasing their talents in soccer, volleyball, and swimming. Here’s a recap of the most notable games.
Abbott Tech dominated the field, scoring five goals. Danny Granizo led the scoring with two goals, while Henrique Candido, John Jaigua, and Dennis Palacios also added to the score. Arnold Urvina recorded four saves for Abbott Tech.
In a competitive match, Brad Balgach shined for Canton with a hat-trick, leading his team to victory. Windsor Locks had goals from Gavin Souza and Vincent Latorra, with assists coming from Aiden Hoffman and Adam Moutawakeel.
EO Smith showcased their offense with a clean sheet, with goals from Yeshua LaBoy and Jase Hamley. East Catholic struggled to find the net and also conceded an own goal.
Foran’s volleyball team continued their winning streak, defeating Hamden in straight sets. Nyah Boromei led the Foran team with 30 assists, while Felicity Potkay impressed for Hamden with notable digs and kills.
In a thrilling swim meet, Foran edged out Hamden. Lila Rothbard won the 200 freestyle, and Erin Morton was impressive in the 100 butterfly.
