High School Basketball Roundup: Exciting Finish in Jonesborough

Jonesborough was buzzing with excitement last night as high school basketball kicked off in several local tournaments. Fans filled the stands at various venues, ready to support their favorite teams in what turned out to be a thrilling night of action.

In a heated contest, Cocke Co. faced off against Daniel Boone. The game was fiercely competitive, but Cocke Co. managed to pull ahead, winning with a score of 48-43. The players showed great teamwork and determination, securing an important victory.

Meanwhile, David Crockett had a tough matchup against West Ridge, but they didn’t back down. After a nail-biting contest, David Crockett emerged victorious with a close final score of 71-67. This win showcased their resilience and skill on the court.

Over in Bluff City at the Food City Classic, it was another exciting night for local teams. Grant Thompson of West Ridge shone brightly, scoring 27 points and leading his team to a 65-55 victory against Kachea. Additionally, Tennessee High made quite an impression, with Colin Brown contributing 24 points in their decisive 88-47 win over Happy Valley.

In the Valley Forge tournament, Unicoi Co. took on Unaka and won convincingly with a score of 50-37. Happy Valley also had a strong performance, narrowly defeating Cedar View Christian 37-33, showing they have what it takes to compete at a high level.

This night of basketball not only entertained the fans but also demonstrated the incredible talent within the local high school teams. With so many close games and standout performances, it’s clear that the season is just getting started, and there are many exciting matchups ahead.
