Newberry Residents Eligible for FEMA Assistance After Hurricane Helene

Newberry Residents Now Eligible for FEMA Assistance Post-Hurricane Helene

Greetings, Newberry! As our community continues to pick up the pieces from Hurricane Helene, there’s some important news for those who may be reeling from the storm’s aftermath. If you’ve suffered any losses due to the hurricane, you should know that you are now eligible to receive assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

How to Apply for Assistance

For Newberry County residents who have experienced damages, help is just a few clicks or a phone call away! You can start the application process for assistance by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov, dialing 1-800-621-3362, or even using the FEMA App.

We realize that this process might seem a bit overwhelming, especially in the wake of a disaster. So, here’s some good news! A Disaster Survivor Assistance Team is coming to Newberry County on Monday, October 7, to lend a hand. They’ll be available to answer any questions about the assistance process and assist you with registering.

Event Details

This special event will be taking place at the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office Drill Hall from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Please keep in mind that this will be a walk-in event, so you can come in when you’re ready! The team will be there specifically to guide you through the application process, making it a bit easier for everyone.

What They Can (and Can’t) Do

Though the team is here to be as helpful as possible, it’s important to note that they won’t be able to upload documents for you or pay out any Individual Assistance directly. However, they can provide you with vital information and support to get you started on the path to recovery.

Gratitude from Local Leadership

Newberry’s Emergency Management Director, Tommy Long, expressed his appreciation for FEMA’s support, emphasizing the surge in questions he’s received about how to apply for assistance. “The Disaster Survivor Assistance Team is providing a huge asset to Newberry County residents,” Long mentioned. His acknowledgment speaks volumes about the need for support during such challenging times.

Contact Information

If you require further assistance or have any questions leading up to this event, feel free to reach out! You can contact the Newberry County Office at 803-276-0625. They can provide additional guidance and information about available resources.

Remember, Newberry, you are not alone in this recovery process. With the support of FEMA and our local emergency management teams, there’s hope on the horizon. Let’s make sure we all take advantage of the resources available to help get our community back on its feet. See you on October 7!
