Arlington High Schools Gear Up for Exciting Week of Playoffs

Arlington is set for an action-packed week filled with sports as high school teams prepare for various playoff events. The excitement kicks off this weekend, but fans should note that there will be no football games on Friday night, November 1, due to the Diwali Hindu festival observance in Fairfax County schools.

Instead, football enthusiasts can look forward to games being held on Saturday, November 2. The schedule features four matchups: Bishop O’Connell will visit Bishop Ireton at noon, Wakefield faces McLean at 1 p.m., Washington-Liberty takes on Langley at 4 p.m., and Marshall will challenge Yorktown at 5 p.m.

In addition to football, several other sports will see playoff action throughout the weekend. Important events include:

  • Field Hockey: The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference final will take place at 5 p.m. at Catholic University.
  • Girls Volleyball: Their final is also scheduled for 6 p.m. at the same location.
  • Boys Soccer: Fans can catch their final at noon, followed by the Girls Soccer final at 2:30 p.m. at Catholic University.
  • Cross Country: The 6D North Region championship meet will happen at Burke Lake Park at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Field Hockey continues with Washington-Liberty facing Oakton at 7 p.m. and Madison matching up against Yorktown at the same time in 6D North Region semis.
  • State playoffs will attract attention as St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes goes up against Bishop O’Connell at 3 p.m.

This week offers a great opportunity for Arlington’s students to showcase their talents and compete at high levels. The local sports community is buzzing with anticipation, and all eyes will be on the teams as they strive for victory.
