Cincinnati High School Football Roundup

As the regular season of high school football in Ohio winds down, Cincinnati schools are making headlines in a thrilling Week 9 of matchups. The excitement escalates as teams gear up for important rivalry games, especially with Lakota East and Lakota West both vying for the top spot in the Greater Miami Conference.

In a standout game this weekend, the Moeller Crusaders faced St. Edward, the three-time defending Division I state champions, securing a 35-30 victory. Junior tight end Cooper McCutchan shone brightly, catching three touchdown passes for 84 yards. Quarterback Matt Ponatoski had a stellar performance, completing 17 of his 24 passes for 191 yards and five touchdown passes, leading the Crusaders to an impressive 8-1 record through nine games.

Another exciting game saw Kings pull ahead of Turpin, scoring three touchdowns in the second half after a tied game at 7-7 at halftime. The Knights’ quarterback Grant Nurre excelled, becoming a dual threat by passing for 139 yards and rushing for another 98 yards, guiding Kings to a 27-7 win.

In a close contest, Oak Hills overcame Fairfield with a last-minute touchdown to win 21-18. The Highlanders led early but watched as Fairfield made a comeback to take the lead, only to lose it again on a touchdown pass from Lincoln Schreiber to Max Supe with seconds remaining.

As we approach the final week of the regular season, schools are gearing up for one last chance to make a strong push before the playoffs. The upcoming games are highly anticipated, especially the clash between the aforementioned Lakota schools, promising more football excitement for Cincinnati fans.
