Exciting High School Sports Action in Minnesota

This past weekend, Minnesota high school athletes showcased their talents in various sports across the state. It was a thrilling time for teams and fans alike, with many schools putting their best efforts forward.

State Tournament Highlights

In the CI division semifinals, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville secured a win against Park Center with a score of 4-2, while Dakota United dominated South Suburban by shutting them out 3-0. In consolation semifinals, South Washington County had an impressive match, defeating St. Cloud 9-4.

The fifth-place match saw Stillwater/Mahtomedi triumph over South Washington County 8-5. In the third place match, South Suburban managed to hold off Park Center 6-4. In the championship game, Dakota United clinched the title with a score of 3-0 against Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville.

PI Division Semifinals

In the PI division, Mpls. South made headlines by winning 13-3 against Park Center. Rochester also had a successful outing, defeating Dakota United 4-0. For the consolation semifinals, Anoka-Hennepin won a close game against St. Paul Humboldt 5-4.

In the fifth-place match, Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka defeated Anoka-Hennepin 6-5, and Park Center earned a victory against Dakota United 7-1 for third place. The championship match saw Mpls. South narrowly beat Rochester 5-4.

Football Semifinals

In football, other teams were also hard at work competing in the semifinals. In Class 5A, Alexandria showcased their strength by defeating Owatonna 42-20. In Class 3A, Dassel-Cokato edged out Pequot Lakes 29-26, while Stewartville also claimed victory over Albany 33-20. Meanwhile, in Class 1A, Minneota utterly dominated Parkers Prairie with a resounding 45-0 victory.

Swimming State Meet

The Class 2A State Meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center saw Minnetonka come out on top, finishing with a total of 325 points, closely followed by Edina with 300 points. Several records were broken, and many individual performances stood out.

The Class 1A State Meet also produced exceptional highlights, with Orono taking first place with a total of 259 points, while Visitation closely followed with 234.

Overall, the excitement and competitiveness of Minnesota high school sports are as strong as ever, and fans are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming events and finals.
