Edmonds-Woodway Warriors Secure Playoff Spot with 2-0 Win Over Meadowdale Mavericks

In Edmonds on Tuesday, October 29, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors capped off their regular season with a solid 2-0 win against the Meadowdale Mavericks. This victory ensures both teams advance to the 3A District 1 play-in round scheduled for Thursday, October 31.

The Warriors will head into postseason play as the seventh seed and will be hosting the 10th-seeded Everett at Edmonds-Woodway High School at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Meadowdale, now the 12th seed, will face off against fifth-seeded Shorecrest at Shoreline Stadium at 6 p.m.

In the win against Meadowdale, the Warriors were led by goals from Ava Huse and Janie Hanson, the latter assisted by Bella Dreitzler. The outstanding performance of goalkeeper Alice Everett resulted in a shutout for Edmonds-Woodway. The final records for the teams were:

  • Edmonds-Woodway: 7-5 in league play, 11-5 overall
  • Meadowdale: 4-8 in league play, 7-9 overall

In other matches, Mountlake Terrace also secured their spot in the play-in round with a 1-0 win over Arlington. Ally Villalobos Van Slooten scored from a corner kick delivered by Claire August, while goalkeeper Jordyn Stokes maintained a clean sheet. The Hawks will enter the elimination round as the 11th seed, taking on sixth-seed Stanwood at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

For Mountlake Terrace, the records ended at:

  • Mountlake Terrace: 5-9-1 overall
  • Arlington: 6-10 overall

The Shorecrest team had an impressive showing against Lynnwood, winning decisively 9-0. This win boosted their record to 8-3-1 in league play and 11-3-2 overall. Unfortunately, this loss meant Lynnwood’s season came to an end with a record of 0-12 in league play and 0-16 overall.

In volleyball action, Lynnwood managed to defeat Meadowdale with a score of 3-0, leading the individual stats were Sammy Holmer with 16 kills and Ady Morgan with 18 assists. The final scores for the sets were 25-11, 25-15, and 25-19. Lynnwood’s overall record improved to 6-4 in league play and 9-6 in total.

Looking ahead, Lynnwood will compete against Mountlake Terrace on Monday, November 4 at 7 p.m., while Meadowdale will face Shorewood the same day at 7 p.m.
