High School Basketball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway Remains Undefeated

In Edmonds on Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors took a decisive victory over the Lynnwood Royals with a final score of 45-36. This win improved Edmonds-Woodway’s record to 4-0 for the season.

The game started with a slow pace, as the Warriors led by just three points at the end of the first quarter, 8-5. As the game progressed, the Warriors found their rhythm, outscoring the Royals in the second quarter 11-9, and continuing to build their lead in the third quarter with a score of 14-9.

Junior Finley Wichers shone for Edmonds-Woodway, leading the team with 15 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Senior Abi Porter had a solid game as well, contributing eight points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sophomore Jasmine Gill added 11 points to help secure the victory. On the other side, freshman Nina Wilson was the standout for Lynnwood, scoring 14 points.

In terms of overall records, Edmonds-Woodway stands with a league record of 1-0 and an overall record of 4-0. Lynnwood, meanwhile, is struggling with a league record of 0-2 and an overall record of 1-3.

The Warriors are set to face Archbishop Murphy on Wednesday, December 18, at 7:15 p.m. at Edmonds-Woodway High School. Lynnwood will look to bounce back when they travel to Kings on Saturday, December 14, for a noon matchup.

In another exciting matchup, the Shorecrest Scots defeated the Mountlake Terrace Hawks 78-39. The Hawks entered the game with a strong record, but Shorecrest quickly established control, leading 34-7 at halftime.

The Meadowdale Mavericks edged out the Snohomish Panthers with a 54-38 victory, thanks to a standout performance from Noah Million, who hit six three-pointers on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds.
