Clinton – The future of Clinton’s football and cheerleading scene is looking bright as the Clinton Little Devils prepare to host their annual awards banquet on December 16, 2023. The banquet will celebrate players, cheerleaders, team moms, and coaches from the 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U teams. The event will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Christian Life Center, located at 303 E. Centennial Street, starting at 5:00 PM.
The awards banquet will involve the presentation of a number of accolades to outstanding members of the Clinton Little Devils teams. To highlight a few, there will be an offensive Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a defensive MVP selected from each team. A special award named the Ricky Vance outstanding achievement award will be given to one player from each team. This award is set to recognize a player who not only excels on the field but is also a committed student, maintaining an A-B average throughout this school year. Additionally, the player selected will be a leader within his team, promoting unity and enforcing a strict “no bullying” policy.
The awards banquet will feature a special guest appearance by Ricky Vance, a Clinton native and alumni (1986) of Clinton High School. Vance also happens to be an esteemed sportsman, having been the quarterback of the 1985 Clinton High School state championship team. Following high school, he received offers from multiple D1 schools, but ultimately chose to play major league baseball for the Montreal Expos. After retiring from baseball, Vance moved to Maryland, where he now works as a car salesman at a large dealership in Virginia. He and his wife, Candy Vance, are ardent supporters of the Clinton Little Devils, helping to promote the organization in Washington DC, Maryland, and the Virginia area.
Vance himself will present the Ricky Vance outstanding achievement award to the four deserving recipients. The Clinton community is invited to join in the celebration, enjoy a great meal, and witness the future of Clinton’s football and cheerleading evolve. Tickets to this event are available at $12.00 per person.
In the lead-up to the event, the Clinton Little Devils organization shared a note of gratitude for the Clinton community at large for its unwavering support in the 2023 season. Special thanks were reserved for the team moms and dad who played crucial roles throughout the season – helping with homework, attending to injuries, and, among others, maintaining hydration levels during the matches. The team moms and dad also served as a reliable support system for the coaching staff.
