First Responders Tribute

Clinton to Honor Brave First Responders at PC Football Game

In the heart of Clinton, excitement is in the air as Presbyterian College gears up to honor the brave firefighters and first responders who bravely tackled a catastrophic fire that tore through several local businesses on August 27. This heartfelt tribute will take place during halftime at the college’s football game against Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, September 21, kicking off at 7 p.m. in Bailey Memorial Stadium.

A Community United in Gratitude

This special event, titled “Hometown Heroes”, will recognize the incredible efforts of first responders who came together from 31 different agencies across Laurens County and the Upstate region. Their swift action and dedication made all the difference when the community faced a harrowing situation.

As part of the tribute, all first responders who answered the call that day, along with their families, will receive complimentary tickets and reserved seating to ensure they are honored in style. Dee Nichols, the athletic director at PC, expressed the college’s deep appreciation saying, “We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to honor the many first responders who put themselves at risk daily to protect people and property — and we want to thank them publicly for their quick response when we needed it.”

Presbyterian College’s Commitment to Service

Dr. Anita Gustafson, the president of Presbyterian College, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of community service in the college’s mission. “At Presbyterian College, we believe that service to others and to the community is paramount,” she stated, acknowledging the grueling situation that unfolded on that fateful day. “First responders from all over Laurens County and the Upstate bravely answered the call to serve during a dangerous and life-threatening situation, lending their expertise and training when it was needed.
