Mountain Crest to Face Murray in 4A Girls Soccer Playoffs

This Tuesday in Hyrum, the highly anticipated Class 4A girls soccer playoffs continue as the top-seeded Mountain Crest Mustangs prepare to host the 16th-seeded Murray Spartans. Mountain Crest has been in sensational form this season, boasting a record of 15-1 and a perfect 12-0 in Region 11 play. The Mustangs have dominated their opponents, outscoring them 51-5, thanks in large part to standout performances from their leading scorer Hadli Barrera and goalkeeper Hadly Glenn. Mountain Crest averages 4.0 goals per game while only allowing 0.7 goals per game.

On the other side, Murray comes into the game with a record of 8-8-1. They gained their spot in the second round after a nail-biting penalty shootout victory over Pine View, following a 2-2 tie. The Spartans’ offense is spearheaded by Preslee Stock, who leads the team with five goals. They average 1.9 goals per game but concede an average of 2.1 goals.

Last season, Mountain Crest couldn’t make it past the second round as a number nine seed, while Murray faced a similar fate. Both teams are now looking to change their playoff fortunes. The winner of this matchup will move on to the quarterfinals and meet the victor of the Desert Hills versus Mountain View game.

Desert Hills, the eighth seed, is also set to host Mountain View in an enthralling second-round match. The Thunder finished the regional play with an 11-5 record and have scored 59 goals while only allowing 17 goals. They average 3.7 goals per game and aim to maintain their four-game winning streak as they attempt to advance further this year.

In another exciting matchup, Orem, seeded 13th, faces the challenging fourth seed Green Canyon. Orem advanced with a thrilling 4-3 win over Bear River, and players like London Guymon look to make another impact against the reigning champs who have dominated the season.

As the playoffs continue, the stakes rise, and all the teams will fight hard to secure a spot in the next round. Stay tuned for updates on all the games!
