High School Football Week 6 Recap: Rain Can’t Dampen Excitement in Cincinnati

High School Football Week 6: Soggy Starts and Exciting Wins

This past week in Cincinnati, the high school football season faced a wet beginning as the remnants of Hurricane Helene caused delays and postponements for several games. Despite the soggy conditions, the action on the field didn’t disappoint, with thrilling matchups and significant storylines emerging from Week 6.

In a standout performance, the Thunderhawks secured a decisive 50-23 victory against Middletown, allowing them to reclaim a tie for first place in their conference alongside Princeton and Lakota West. Ryder Hooks shined brightly with three rushing touchdowns while his teammate J.T. Kitna made big plays by connecting with Zion Neal and Patrick McFarlane for passing touchdowns. Looking ahead, Jon Kitna’s team will face a tough challenge as they travel to Lakota West on October 18.

Meanwhile, the Firebirds dominated their opponent, Colerain, winning convincingly by a score of 52-0. The Rams also continued their resurgence, defeating Fenwick 35-7 to extend their winning streak to four games after a rocky start this season.

In another highlight, McNicholas claimed a solid 42-23 win over Chaminade Julienne, with Braden Bobo leading the way with two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. Caleb Naumann also impressed with three rushing scores. Now sitting at 5-1, the Rockets are on a five-game winning streak, gearing up for a crucial Week 10 matchup against the Rams at McNick.

In a historical moment, Ryan Knigga, the head coach at Lawrenceburg, celebrated his 125th career win with a 24-0 victory against Batesville, breaking the school’s all-time head coaching wins record previously held by his own high school coach.

The Warriors made a statement by scoring 34 points in a stunning win against New Richmond. They had been averaging only 4.4 points per game but turned things around decisively. The game shifted when they returned a kickoff for a touchdown right after New Richmond closed the gap to 20-14.

Finally, the Big Blue pulled off a commanding 34-0 win over Princeton, holding the Vikings to just 46 yards of offense and producing two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. This win marked Hamilton’s first victory in the series in eight years.

This week hints at a thrilling finish to the season as teams gear up for critical matchups. The excitement is sure to continue as players and fans eagerly anticipate the next round of high school football action in the coming weeks.
