Caldera High School Forfeits Wins Amid Controversy as Local Youth Sports Revive

In Bend, the No. 6 Oregon Ducks seem to have found their stride after a shaky beginning to the season. Following a series of tough matches, the Ducks are gearing up to face off against former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith and Michigan State this Friday night. With their recent improvements, the Ducks are looking to maintain their momentum as they enter this exciting matchup.

In other sports news, Caldera High School has had to forfeit its two varsity football wins this season due to violations of playing time regulations set in place to protect players. This decision has also led to the resignation of the team’s head coach. The school community is currently trying to process the impact of this situation on the team’s morale and its upcoming games.

Meanwhile, youth sports programs in La Pine have faced significant challenges recently. After the La Pine Park and Recreation announced the cancellation of all youth sports due to safety concerns and reported harassment, a new organization has stepped in to revitalize these programs. This development has been met with relief by many in the community who are eager to see youth sports resume.

On a lighter note, Neiko Farris is gearing up to compete in the BMX state finals. Aiming for victory this weekend, Farris has the chance to advance to the expert classification in his age group for next season. This young athlete has been a bright spot for the local BMX scene, showcasing talent and dedication in his pursuit of competitive cycling.

In an exciting addition to local facilities, the Bend Park and Recreation District has introduced a new robot designed to efficiently paint sports fields. This innovative approach aims to improve the maintenance of local sports venues, benefiting various athletic programs in the area.

As the sports scene in Bend continues to evolve, community members remain hopeful for the future, rallying around their teams and local athletes.
