Bloomington High School Sports Update: Girls Basketball Highlights from Last Week

Bloomington High School Sports Recap: November 18-23

Bloomington high school basketball teams were in action last week, showcasing some exciting matchups across the area. Here’s a summary of the games that took place.

Girls Basketball

In a close contest, Bloomington North defeated Martinsville with a final score of 52-47. Kate Lehr led the Cougars with 16 points, while Ava Robbennolt added 14. Despite missing key players like Ashley Stegemoller and Lulu Frank, the Cougars managed to knock down 10 three-pointers throughout the game. Martinsville fought hard, especially in the fourth quarter, where they scored 18 points and hit four three-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

The score breakdown was as follows: Martinsville (1-3) 8 | 11 | 10 | 18 — 47. Bloomington North (3-2) 13 | 11 | 15 | 13 — 52.

Meanwhile, the Edgewood Mustangs delivered a strong performance against Bloomfield, winning 63-24 in their first road game of the season. Macey Crider was a standout with her impressive 22 points. Edgewood took control early, leading 35-12 at halftime and never looking back.

The score was recorded as follows: Edgewood (4-1) 19 | 16 | 18 | 10 — 63. Bloomfield (2-2) 4 | 8 | 6 | 6 — 24.

Lastly, the Owen Valley Patriots overcame a slow start to defeat West Vigo 51-36. After trailing early, Owen Valley bounced back with a remarkable second quarter, scoring 24 points and ultimately sealing the win in the fourth. Hannah Bixler was the top scorer with 20 points, supported by Aubrey Sparks with 11 and Lilly Miller with 10.

The breakdown of scores highlighted the teams’ efforts: West Vigo (0-5) 13 | 11 | 10 | 2 — 36. Owen Valley (4-1) 5 | 24 | 8 | 14 — 51.
