Woodruff Elementary Shares Tips for Parents to Ensure Successful Student Transition Back to School

Woodruff Elementary Offers Useful Tips for Parents as Students Head Back to School

Spartanburg, S.C – As the excitement builds for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, educators at Woodruff Elementary School have shared some valuable tips to help parents ensure their children’s success as they head back to class.

Open Communication is Key

“It starts at home and we need to remember that as parents,” said Camille Robinson, assistant principal at Woodruff Elementary. “Make sure the lines of communication between school and home are open. We’re all on the same team, and our number one priority is the student.”

Get Ready the Night Before

Preparing the night before school can make mornings smoother for both parents and students. It’s recommended to make sure book bags are packed, outfits are laid out, and screens are turned off well before bedtime. Principal Giada Parris, who is also a mom of a fourth-grader, emphasized the importance of these evening routines.

“Make sure your little ones go to bed early and eat a good breakfast. I know a lot of them have had a lot of screen time over the summer. We want to make sure we’re limiting that, especially right before they go to bed,” Parris advised.

Encouraging a Positive Experience

In addition to preparation and communication, fostering a positive school experience is crucial. Ensuring children feel encouraged and supported can greatly reduce anxiety and help them perform their best.

“Make sure you encourage them to do the best they can every single day. I think a lot of times kids come to school and they’re worried and they’re anxious, but just encourage them every single day,” said Jami Guker, assistant principal.

Following these tips from Woodruff Elementary can help ensure that this school year is a successful and enjoyable one for both parents and students. As the community works together, everyone benefits from a shared commitment to education and well-being.
