Laurens Welcomes Arnold’s Restaurant, Bringing a Taste of Upstate to the City

Exciting news for food lovers in Laurens, South Carolina! The popular Upstate restaurant, Arnold’s, is all set to make its debut in the heart of our charming city. Just recently, the Laurens City Council unanimously passed an ordinance allowing for the negotiation of a lease agreement with the restaurant’s owners, Gary and Zachary Durkee. This momentous decision was made during a council meeting held on Tuesday evening, following an earlier approval during a special gathering to discuss this very venture.

Location and Space

Arnold’s will be situated in the historic Capitol Theatre at 104 E. Main St., taking over the space previously occupied by a café. The Mayor of Laurens, Nathan Senn, is thrilled about this addition to the community, articulating that it creates a sense of synergy between the restaurant and the theatre, which will host various entertainment events. He stated, “From the city’s standpoint, there’s a benefit to us because we will have a source of income to support programming. There’s a benefit to the entire community because there will be a source of vibrancy in that space that will drive patrons to other events and shops.” It sounds like a win-win for everyone!

A Taste of Upstate

Arnold’s is already an established name in the Upstate, with locations in Anderson, Liberty, Belton, and Powdersville. They are particularly famous for their homemade burgers, and their menu caters to a variety of tastes with offerings ranging from delicious sandwiches to scrumptious sirloin steaks. The Durkees, eager to expand their culinary delights to Laurens, expressed their excitement on social media. “We can’t wait to bring our award-winning burgers, premium steak, chicken, and salmon dishes to your area. Whether you’re dining with friends or family, we’re here to offer fresh, flavorful meals that are a step above fast casual,” they shared.

Community Commitment

What’s even better is that the Durkees have a strong belief in supporting the community. “At Arnold’s, we believe in giving back to our community,” they mentioned in their post. “That’s why we’re proud to support local charitable causes and help raise funds for those in need. When you dine with us, you’re also making a difference.” This commitment to community involvement is sure to resonate well with the residents of Laurens.

Renovations Underway

While we await the grand opening of Arnold’s, the city is busy with renovations at the Capitol Theatre to modernize the stage according to updated code standards. They’re also installing additional lighting and sound systems to enhance performance experiences. Furthermore, plans are in motion to make the Arnold’s dining area fully functional, which includes creating a convenient connection between the kitchen and the restaurant space, as well as adding a dedicated entrance for diners. The anticipation builds for what promises to be a welcoming spot for all!

City Council Updates

In other news from the city council meeting, members approved a second reading of an ordinance that will enable the Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) to assist in collecting outstanding debts owed to the City of Laurens. Specifically, this will target approximately $60,000 owed by residents for garbage collection services. To encourage residents to settle their debts, the city has set a deadline of December 1 for resolution.

Looking Ahead

With Arnold’s set to join our vibrant city and ongoing improvements at the theatre, it’s an exciting time for Laurens. So, let’s get ready to enjoy some mouthwatering burgers while catching all the buzz in our community! Stay tuned for more updates as we count down to opening day!
