Arlington High Schools Wrap Up Football Season with Exciting Matchups

Sports Update from Arlington: Final Games and Playoffs Await

Arlington, VA – As the fall sports season draws to a close, local high schools are gearing up for a **_shorter week of sports action_** with some exciting matchups ahead. The focus this week will be on the final regular-season football games and a few playoff events for schools in the area.

This Friday night, November 8, the **_Wakefield Warriors_** will host the **_Washington-Liberty Generals_** in what promises to be an electric all-Arlington showdown. The game kicks off at **_11 a.m._**, and both teams are looking for a strong finish to their season.

On Saturday, November 9, the **_Bishop O’Connell Knights_** are set to face off against **_St. Paul VI Catholic_** at noon, while the **_Yorktown Patriots_** travel to take on **_Herndon_** at **_1 p.m._** These games will be pivotal for the teams as they round out their seasons.

The ice hockey season is also in full swing. The **_Washington-Liberty_** team will match up against **_West Potomac_** at the Prince William Ice Center, starting at **_6:40 p.m._** This marks an exciting phase as Bishop O’Connell and Yorktown prepare to launch their 2024-25 ice hockey campaigns in the coming days.

Additionally, in girls volleyball, the **_Bishop O’Connell Knights_** will compete in the Division I state private school championship match at **_The Steward School_** at noon on Saturday.

In field hockey, **_Yorktown_** will be competing in the Class 6 state tournament quarterfinal game in Stafford, though start times are still to be announced.

This week’s action is set to deliver thrilling performances from our talented local student-athletes, as they aim to finish their seasons on a high note.
